AppSense Application Manager Listing updated: September 15, 2005

AppSense Application Manager provides control over many other types of application content, including ActiveX, Screen Savers, VBScripts, Batch files, Windows Installer packages and Registry configuration files. Self-extracting zip archives are safely extracted using the built-in Zip Extractor.

Another common area of concern for Administrators is licensing and controlling which applications users have access to. AppSense Application Manager can limit the users or groups of users who have permission to run applications and limits can be placed on the number of application instances running, the timing of when users run a program and for how long.

AppSense Environment Manager Listing updated: September 15, 2005

By defining computer and user policies through a centralized interface, Administrators are able to deliver tailored server and desktop environments no matter where users log on from. Both computer and user policies are enforced using the AppSense self-healing mechanism, which prevents users from making critical changes to server or desktop settings

Administrators can also dynamically remove unwanted application features to simplify the end user experience and ensure potential security loopholes are removed. Where necessary, AppSense Environment Manager will automatically discover the environment that it is running within, such as desktop, server or Terminal Services, and apply the specific and appropriate policy settings. A comprehensive set of rules provide granular-level control of user, session, client, computer and Active Directory settings within one single configuration, so there is no need to deploy a different management solution to target specific environments.

Block-IT Listing updated: October 17, 2005

Block-IT (Application Access Control) ensures that no user can ever gain access to unauthorized (local- or network-resident) program executables regardless of their security privileges or file system rights. Using its built-in hashing algorithm, Block-IT guards against application spoofing by verifying the authenticity of each authorized application at launch time. Multiple hashes per application are allowed in a multi-server farm in order to support the piece-meal update or upgrade of a given application or O/S.

Block-IT also features a scheduler to ensure that users can only execute authorized applications within a specified schedule (time-of-day and days-of-week.) Shortly before terminating a schedule-bound application, Block-IT notifies the user of the impending termination, thus giving them the opportunity to exit the application. Finally, it terminates the running application when the ending time is reached.
